I have the search installed and have indexed the site.
I can get results back which is great.
However the results I get back are overwhelming.
We use DMX as our main document storage and have made extensive use of DMX categories to be able to display the same document on multiple pages. No document will appear on all pages.
Yet when I do a search for a document that I know is listed only once on the site via a category, I end up with about 42 results as that is the number of categories I have and the document is listed under each category.
Not sure if I have settings in the search not set up right or is it DMX?
Thanks,
samyb

Could you check whether there are some errors in the logs?
Can you also enable indexing logging during indexation to see how many documents are indexed from DMX; this should match how many documents are present on the website.
You can also have a look at what documents exist in the LuceneIndex if you're familiar with it, by using a tool called Luke:

Samy:
Can you expand a bit on how I would go about doing:
"Can you also enable indexing logging during indexation to see how many documents are indexed from DMX; this should match how many documents are present on the website."
I have ticked the box for "Trace Indexing in Event Log" and then went to Host->Search Admin and re-indexed the content.
Went to the the admin event log and don't see anything listed relating to the search. I can see Schedule Event Progressing events.
Cheers,

You have to enable the "Debug info" entry of the DNN log viewer in order to see the logs created during indexation by LuceneSearch.
In the event viewer module, click on "edit log parameters" and add the followig key

Thanks for that Samy.
I have run it and I get 10169 documents indexed.
In DMX I have 228 documents stored.
I know what is happening but how to resolve.
I have at the moment 45 instances of DMX installed on the site, almost all are being used in template mode to display files by category(not folder).
A quick bit of maths 44 x 228 = 10032 plus a few others gets me to my 10169 documents indexed.
So for each DMX module all the documents stored inside DMX gets indexed.
Any ideas?
I will ask over at bring2mind as well.
Thanks for all your help.
