Greetings,
We have been using the FUP module on one of our servers for quite some time without problems. But, after upgrading our site to DNN 7.1.0 we've had never ending problems including unending redirects, generated URLs that go nowhere, defined transformations that are completely ignored, etc. But, to start the story: Our first attempt at a DNN upgrade required and upgrade to a newer NBStore version which required an upgrade to FUP. We first tried FUP 2.4.1 / Shared 1.7.1. This seemed to work ok, for a while, except for ignoring several rules that were defined. But, interface issues prohibited us from modifying any of those rules (kept jumping back to first tab or elsewhere in the settings page each tab click). So, we upgraded to FUP 2.5.1 / Shared 1.7.5. This was catastrophic. In various forms (we had to restore from a snapshot several times during the process) we could get it to either work as expected, but still completely ignoring our custom rules, or it would completely kill the site.
Not being sure if this was a problem with the FUP module or a problem with our site, I decided to install FUP on a perfectly clean 7.1.0 site with 2 portals. Didn't work. Added the Aricie FUP Managment module to an Admin page, added a custom transformation, tested. Completely ignored. Same transformation / same syntax that worked previously prior to the upgrade. Decided I'd turn on debugging, clicked the module 'Edit Configuration', received a redirect loop problem that my browser had to kill after 20 redirects. So, couldn't turn on the debugger through the interface. I tried to turn it on by modifying the Aricie.FUP.Providers.config file, but that didn't seem to work. No error messages at all.
Fiddler showed the redirect as follows:
<site>/de/admin/aricie-friendlier-url-provider/aricie-friendlierurlprovider/EditConfig.aspx
<site>/fr/admin/aricie-friendlier-url-provider/aricie-friendlierurlprovider/EditConfig.aspx
<site>/de/admin/aricie-friendlier-url-provider/aricie-friendlierurlprovider/EditConfig.aspx
And so on... It was jumping back and forth between the portals (/de and /fr above). Now, at that point in time I hadn't installed the management console to the FR portal or even turned it on for that portal. I figured I'd give it a try, same page name, etc., but to no avail.
Back on the primary portal, I can't even access the settings anymore. Apparently (according to the event log) I incorrectly wrote an invalid RegEx and the module won't even load. Now, unfortunately that RegEx isn't stored in the Aricie.FUP.Providers.config file, so I can't simply remove it. Back on the test portal, trying to remove a transform element seems to work but upon page refresh its back.
Has this version been fully tested on DNN 7.1.0? If not, when will a new version be available? We got "feature freeze" set for Friday and if I can't get it fixed by then, we will simply replace the provider with the DNN Native module (from the iFinity acquisition). Rather not do that as the native module can't do as much for our specific modules. And, I don't have time to debug the source.
Anyone had similar problems? Any suggested paths for resolution? Or investigation? Or getting debugging working? Or removing the faulty transformation without using the interface? And finally, sorry for the long post...
Cheers,
Greg

Hi Greg,
I will let our experts do the technical response. One thing I know is that FUP is now a Codeplex project, free for anyone to access, update, improve. I understand you don't have time to do it and that is perfectly fine. Our goal is to provide that kind of service to our clients. See the detailled offer
here
. Our point is to get some financial support to keep on working on those great projects. Hope you can help us make FUP better and further more, make it work as it should on your environment. Thank you for your understanding.

Thanks for your quick response. I am in no way prepared to pay money to fix a product that's delivered unusable with this many bugs. We purchased this module from the DNN Store on 4/13/2013 for $100 in order to get the then current 'Standard' version (2.4.0). There should be some level of support for the following year even if the source code is freely available. I inherited this position from another, so I'm not sure the history on whether your business model changed, or when the source was released to the community, but obligations should be met. And, when asking for help, it's not helpful to respond by asking for more money. Your first question should be if I have a current support contract or when I last purchased a license...
I will customize the native DNN provider instead.
Cheers,
Greg

Hi Greg,
I am in the process of releasing a new version that will hopefully stabilize the latest release.
I'm not finished yet, but I have just committed my last changes to Codeplex.
Would you be kind enough to check if the latest source package fixes your problems?
